When I was younger, I gravitated toward hands-on activities—carving sticks into canoes, building treehouses, and later making ends meet through carpentry, house painting, boat maintenance, and other odd jobs while traveling the world. After realizing the trades offered the self-determination and purpose I had been searching for, I enrolled at North Bennet Street School to become a high-end, specialized carpenter, preserve structural heritage, and commit myself fully to the craft. I feel especially proud when I get to say I am a preservation carpenter, and I hope to lead by example and show others that the trades are a meaningful, fulfilling, and worthwhile career path.
