At the age of 33, I decided to return to school and begin a new career in the building arts. Plaster work has intrigued me from my first introduction because it allows me to combine creativity with a practical trade, and I am especially enjoying learning ornamental plaster work, including decorative ceilings, moldings, and architectural features. As a woman pursuing a path in a traditionally male-dominated field, I believe that there is no single definition of a tradesperson and that skills can be learned and developed regardless of gender or age. My goal is to preserve where possible, restore where needed, and serve as a role model for young women interested in the skilled trades.
